Click Here to Register for the 2017 Summer Piano Week at Buffalo State!
Pianists in grades 7-9 an 10-12 have the opportunity to continue their musical development in an intensive 1-week session. The piano curriculum will focus on exploring the broad spectrum of experiences than can begin with classical piano study. In addition to solo repertoire performance, pianists will explore the world of collaborative piano and get to know the harpsichord and organ.
Additional topics include practice, memorization, and performance strategies, theory and ear training, sight reading, piano pedagogy (especially focused on how to take on a young beginning student), collaborative piano technique, and Alexander technique.
Students will explore new ways to grow as keyboard players and musicians.
Sample daily schedule:
8.00-8.45am: Warmup (Alexander technique lesson)
9.00-9.45: Piano Class
9.45-10.30: Private Lesson
10.30-12.00: Faculty concert and masterclass
1.00-2.00: Group Topic
