Originally from Dallas, Texas, Emily Boyce has appeared as soloist, collaborator, duo-pianist, and lecturer throughout the United States and in China. She currently serves as Professor of Piano at SUNY Buffalo State where she teaches applied piano, class piano, and accompanying. She has previously been a member of the piano faculties of the Eastman Community Music School in Rochester, NY, the Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Arts, and the Bowling Green State University Summer Music Institute. She has also served as State President, State Competitions Chair, and Chairperson of District X for the New York State Music Teachers Association.  Other organizations in which Emily is active include the Wednesday Morning Musicale (Buffalo, NY), the National Federation of Music Clubs, the Music Forum for Piano Teachers of Western New York, the Music Teachers National Association and the Chromatic Club of Buffalo.

Dr. Boyce is the author of "Foundational Keyboard Skills for Music Majors" in the textbook The First Year Music Major: Strategies for Success, Routledge, 2023. As a staunch advocate for the creation and performance of new music, Emily has collaborated with composers from throughout North America and Europe. These commissions have lead to the world premieres of more than a dozen solo and chamber works written for and dedicated to her. Aside from maintaining a regular performance schedule, Emily has presented lecture recitals on the piano music of Franz Liszt, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Cesar Franck, and Karol Szymanowski. Other research interests include the keyboard music of Amy Beach, Father Antonio Soler, group and private piano pedagogy, and choral and instrumental score reading.  While at Eastman, she served as both the studio assistant to Professor Thomas Schumacher of the piano faculty and as a class piano teaching assistant.
