Katelyn Fridmann is a native of Lancaster, NY and a graduate of the Eastman School of Music. She received a Bachelor of Music in Horn Performance in 2017, and a Master of Arts in Music Education in 2020. Her masters thesis was written on the subject of teaching transposition to elementary and secondary students in the wind ensemble setting.
Kate is an active freelance musician in the Western New York area, performing everywhere from opera houses and churches to the stages at Shea’s Buffalo Theatre and the Key Bank Center. She is a member of the Buffalo Brass Quintet, American Legion Band of the Tonawandas, Buffalo Niagara Praise Orchestra, and section leader/featured soloist of Lancaster Town Band. She has had the distinct honor and pleasure of subbing in the Erie County Wind Ensemble, Clarence Symphony Orchestra, and Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.
Kate is also a passionate and dedicated educator, with experience teaching music across New York State in solo, chamber music, and classroom environments. She is very excited to begin her journey at Buffalo State, and can’t wait to make music and memories right in the heart of her favorite city in the world.
